Tourist Spanish-3

Hola = Hi! Hello! (Be careful! In Spanish, h- is silent)
Buenos días (Pay attention! There should be an accent mark on the “i”, not a dot. They don't show the accent mark on the video: this is a small mistake)

Buenas tardes (Good afternoon)
Notice that the root "tard" means late. In English, we use the same root in words such as "tardy" and "tardiness" (describes when a student goes to school late or does not hand in homework on time).

Buenas noches (Good evening or good night)
The root "noch" (= "night") comes from Latin. in English this gives us the word "nocturnal." Nocturnal animals such as bats and owls are active at night.
